The CEV EuroBeachVolley 2024 has been a resounding success with as many as 30,500 fans making their way to the iconic venues at Scheveningen / The Hague, Arnhem, and Apeldoorn to follow the actions of Europe’s Beach Volleyball elite! This figure is truly impressive, and it shows how the organisers have been able to ride the massive wave of Beach Volleyball euphoria triggered by the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where players from Europe claimed as many as four of the six medals at stake.

A full stadium for the final weekend of EuroBeachVolley action in The Hague

Even though a few top teams did withdraw from the competition earlier this week due to medical reasons, fans from across the Netherlands and even further afield came together for a real Beach Volleyball party and to enjoy the positive vibes that quite naturally go with the sport. The geographical proximity did obviously help attract people from nearby Germany and even Belgium – and eventually secure sold-out sessions for both the women’s and men’s medal matches contested in The Hague on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The stadium built at the Market Square in Arnhem did also attract a capacity crowd

The idyllic settings of Scheveningen were obviously a great asset to capitalise on and to make sure fans would want to flock to the permanent stadium built by the sea – but large crowds came together in Arnhem and Apeldoorn downtown as well, thereby accounting for stadiums filled to their full capacity earlier this week too.

A large number of fans came together already early in the week when the competition started in Apeldoorn

Beach Volleyball remains extremely popular in the Netherlands and even though the home teams may have cultivated higher expectations for the continental championship, the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2024 represents yet another chapter added to the success story that the Dutch Volleyball Federation and their partners have been writing since 2006, when the continental premier event was held for the first time on Dutch soil. Such highlights include the 2015 edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships – the first to involve multiple cities – as well as the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2018, which had reached its climax in The Hague too, albeit at a different location at Zuiderpark.
