CEV EuroBeachVolley 2022
We have entered the final days here at Munich 2022, with the CEV EuroBeachVolley women’s competition playing its quarter-finals in the first part of the day. With two teams still left in the tournament, host Germany and the local fans were feeling confident that at least one of these teams would make it through.
It wasn’t meant to be however for the experienced pairs of Borger/Sude and Laboureur/Schulz who failed to keep up with former European Champions, Kravcenoka/Graudina from Latvia and Brunner/Huberli from Switzerland.
Julia Sude“In the end we were missing a little bit of explosiveness and they are a very athletic team and we really had to be at the top of our level to go over the block, to find those sharp angles. After three weeks of travelling we could feel it a little bit, unfortunately that happened today but congratulations to them, they played a good game.”
In the other two quarter finals, the extremely enthusiastic and crowd favourite Spanish duo, Alvarez M/Moreno had another outstanding performance to leave the Italians out of the race for the title, while the Dutch pair Stam/Schoon did great to secure their spot into the semifinals after a tough match against the newly formed Swiss pair.
