The fourth day of the men’s competition at the CEV EuroBeachVolley Munich 2022 has brought even more excitement and surprises our way in the Round of 16. Two major upsets have possibly opened the door wide open for multiple champions, Norwegians Anders Mol and Christian Sørum to grab yet another title.

Tough day for the two Dutch duos playing in the Round of 16 as one of the favourites of the tournament, Brouwer/Meeuwsen fell short of qualification into the next round following defeat in three sets, while Van Werkhoven/ Van de Velde were outperformed by the Polish duo Bryl/Losiak.

Another surprise elimination was that of the Italians Nicolai/Cottafava, whose experience and quality of play couldn’t see them through against the very enthusiastic and skillful youngsters from Sweden.

Austria seems to be the “winner” of the day, as both teams representing the country remain in the competition after great display of quality and resilience in two very tough encounters of the round.

The quarter finals of the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2022 are scheduled to take place on 20 August, streamed live and available for free on EuroVolley.TV.
