The Hague, Apeldoorn and Arnhem will welcome Europe’s Beach Volleyball top teams later this summer for the 2024 edition of EuroBeachVolley, which will be taking place in the Netherlands from August 13-18 right after completion of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Beach Volleyball fans can expect a real show and Beach Volleyball action of the finest level when the continental championship returns to the Netherlands after the highly successful 2018 edition organised across four cities.

European Beach Volleyball champions will be crowned in The Hague - just as it happened in 2018

The Dutch Volleyball Federation (Nevobo), representatives of the three host cities, world-class Beach Volleyball players and officials including CEV Vice-President and Treasurer Eric Adler came together on Thursday in The Hague for a press conference hosted by former Volleyball star, 1996 Olympic champion Bas van de Goor, who will be playing the role of Tournament Director this time around.

EuroBeachVolley represents the major highlight of a busy Beach Volleyball season, and the event will build and ride on the gigantic wave of attention which will be generated by the Paris 2024 Olympics where European teams will be trying to repeat the unprecedented success they achieved in Tokyo three years ago – when teams from the ‘Old Continent’ claimed half of the medals at stake.

Back in 2018, Madelein Meppelink and Sanne Keizer secured #EuroBeachVolley gold in front of a partisan home crowd

The Dutch teams have been a major force to reckon with for many years and they obviously will be trying to capitalise on the home-court advantage to repeat what the now retired Madelein Meppelink and Sanne Keizer did in 2018 – when they won EuroBeachVolley gold in front of a sell-out crowd in The Hague. Raisa Schoon and Katja Stam will carry the hopes of ‘orange success’ in the women’s competition – and the Netherlands have at least four highly competitive teams to count on to secure podium spots on the men’s side. The 2013 world champions and veterans Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen may have such an opportunity, with Stefan Boermans/Yorick de Groot, Christiaan Varenhorst/Leon Luini and Steven van de Velde/Matthew Immers all among the potential medal contenders too.

Last year in Vienna, Luini and De Groot were the eventual silver medallists after losing to double European champions David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden. In the quarterfinals, they had sensationally knocked out of the competition reigning Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway.

EuroBeachVolley returns to the city centre of Apeldoorn after a highly successful 2018 edition

EuroBeachVolley 2024 continues the tradition of elite Beach Volleyball events organised across multiple cities in the Netherlands – which started with the 2015 World Championships and continued with EuroBeachVolley in 2018. This time, the competition will be reaching its climax in Scheveningen, a popular beach district in The Hague – where European Beach Volleyball champions were already crowned in 2012 as well. Beach Volleyball fans can look forward to a truly exciting competition and an extensive entertainment programme that will account for an experience to remember for all involved!
