It’s been four long days of competition at the historic Königsplatz in the German city of Munich, host to the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2022, part of the European Championships Munich 2022, yet things are just heating up as we reach the quarter finals stage of the competition.

Following today’s matches counting for the Round of 16, we now know the top eight teams that are still in with a chance to get their hands on the much coveted European crown. Amongst them, two teams that have already managed this performance in the past three years, the Latvians Kravcenoka/Graudina, champions in Moscow in 2019, and the Swiss duo of Brunner/Huberli, reigning champions, winners last year in Vienna.

On top of that, 2020 champion Anouk Vergé-Dépré is still in the competition, having adapted well to her partner for this tournament Menia Bentele, following the injury to her long term partner Joana Heidrich.

Another former champion still in the competition is Marta Menegatti, one of the most experienced players on the beach volleyball circuit and winner of the trophy in 2011.

The shocking absence from this next stage of the competition is that of the Germans Müller/Tillmann, ranked first in the entry list but knocked out by the Italians Scampoli/Bianchin In the Round of 24, who were then eliminated by another German duo, Borger/Sude in the Round of 16.
