It’s been a long road to get to this point, but these teams have done it with determination and grit and are now just one step away from either regaining or retaining the much coveted CEV EuroBeachVolley crown.

Following the highly disputed quarter finals matches from the morning session and the afternoon break, the top four teams in the women’s competition of the CEV EuroBeachVolley Munich 2022 went head to head on the incredible Central Court in Königsplatz.

First on the sand were the Dutch Stam/Schoon, the youngest team at the Tokyo Olympics at just 22 and 19, silver medalists at the CEV EuroBeachVolley 2021 in Vienna just a few weeks later and former EuroBeachVolley champions from 2019, the Latvian pair Kravcenoka/Graudina.

If the first set of this encounter was not much to write about (13-21) the second set the stakes really became real for both of these teams and the level went that much higher. The crowd on their feet point after point contributed heavily to yet another outstanding match, more so for the Latvians who took a very inspired time out at 19-20 to come back and secure the set point and with it their place in the Final.

The second semi-final saw the surprise Spanish pair of Álvarez M/Moreno go against the outstandingly performant Swiss duo and reigning champions Brunner/ Huberli. Despite having done so well to get to this point, the Spaniards didn’t seem to have enough in the bag to push the Swiss out of their way to the final and lost respectably in two sets (21-14, 21-17)
