The 32 women’s teams that will fight for the title of the 2024 CEV EuroBeachVolley are now known as the list of participants of the 32nd edition of the tournament, which will take place in the Netherlands, from August 13-18, has been released.

Swiss Brunner and Hüberli will try to defend the title they won last year in Vienna

Starting right after the conclusion of the Paris Olympics, this year’s EuroBeachVolley is expected to be among the biggest and most exciting ones, with matches taking place in three host cities in beach-volleyball loving the Netherlands – The Hague, Arnhem and Apeldoorn.

At least 11 teams are expected to go directly from Paris to the Netherlands to compete on the EuroBeachVolley, with the total potentially going up 13 depending on the duos selected by France to take their host country spot at the Games and the Netherlands to occupy the berth earned at last week’s CEV Beach Nations Cup Finals.

As many as 15 European nations will be involved in the women’s tournament this year, with hosts the Netherlands and continental powerhouse Germany sending four duos each to fight for medals in the event – Italy, Spain and Switzerland will have three each.

Swiss stars Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner will be back to defend the EuroBeachVolley title they won last year in Vienna while also aiming for a third continental title in four years since they also triumphed in the Austrian capital in 2021.

The most successful player in the EuroBeachVolley, German star Laura Ludwig will attempt to win her 11th medal 20 years after her first appearance. The 38-year-old Olympic champion has four golds (2008, 2010, 2015, 2016), two silver and four bronzes and made it to the podium last year, finishing third.

With ten medals won, Germany's Ludwig is the most successful player at the EuroBeachVolley

Other past EuroBeachVolley champions who will be in action this year in the Netherlands are Latvians Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova, who won gold in 2019 and 2022, Swiss Joana Mäder and Anouk Vergé-Dépré, who finished first in 2020, and Italian Marta Menegatti, who lifted the trophy in 2011.

Following the Drawing of Lots, the 32 teams will be split into eight pools of four, with the best three advancing to the elimination rounds, which will begin with 24 duos.
